New Year, New Blog

So -- it was time to move. The old digs were a little worn and the previous blog lacked focus (not to mention entries). To be honest, I'm not sure what the focus is going to be over here. There are three main areas of possibility, however, and while they might not seem to have much overlap, I'm not sure I can not write about these things.

The first topic involves eating a plant-based diet. I have learned a LOT this past year, and probably the most important thing is that most people need constant reinforcement in order to make this change. I understood this intuitively about myself (years of attempted -- and failed -- behavior modification have taught me a thing or two), but it's true for practically everybody. I want to help give folks that reinforcement and to provide a place to ask and answer questions. Not health questions, of course, because I only know what I read (I'll gladly share that), but questions about how to eat, how to cook, how to make this big change in your life. Or even how to ease into this style of eating in a way that won't cause your spouse to divorce you.

The second topic should really be the first, I guess, because it's God. Or, more precisely, my spiritual walk. I stumble (Lord, how I stumble!), but I love God and have a burning desire to know more about Him. I often say that I don't know what I think about something until I've written about it, so I pretty much have to write about the things I'm learning. I just bought a copy of Robert Murray M'Cheyne's through-the-Bible-in-a-year plan, so that's the first thing on which I'll focus. Probably.

Finally, of course, there's...my life. My family, my friends, folks who pass through fleetingly. I'll pretty much have to write about most of 'em.

I don't write this to become rich and famous (while I wouldn't mind the rich part I have no desire to be famous). My writing will never be disciplined enough here for that. There are a few friends who -- for whatever reason -- love me and find my offerings mildly amusing. I write for me, I write for them. We'll see how this goes.

More later...
