Dessert-y Snack-y Things

Irene wanted to know where the pecan pralines are sold. In Publix there is an endcap that they fill with clear plastic containers that hold things like chocolate-covered almonds and dried apricots and wasabi peas and the pecan pralines. In my Publix this is in the produce section, but it used to be at the opposite end of the store down by the snacks. But it's all Publix stuff -- not any other brand. I'm sure you know the area that I'm describing. We were at Publix last night and met some guy that Bruce knows (bike stuff) in the produce section, so while they were talking I was checking ingredients. I wanted some dark-chocolate-covered almonds, but they have milk in the ingredients. I assumed the pralines had egg, but they did not. I try to avoid the wasabi peas because I can't stop eating those, either. What is it about not being able to stop eating certain foods???

It's very interesting to me that some of the Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies are vegan and some are not. If they are made by the ABC Smart Cookie company they are not vegan. If they are made by the Little Brownie Bakers they are. Weird, huh? No Girl Scouts have asked me to buy cookies this year. Our church used to sponsor a troop but got kind of fed up with the direction that the organization is taking (you don't have to believe in God, sex ed, lesbians are okay, etc.), so we now have an American Heritage Girls troop instead. I'm glad no one tries to sell me the cookies because I can eat an entire sleeve of Thin Mints in one sitting.

More later...
